Mission Facilitators International (MFI) blasts teams into outer space using the high tech simulator at a number of Challenger Learning Centers nationwide, and returns them to Earth with improved teamwork skills and increased clarity and commitment to their workplace missions.

Flying into outer space teaches teamwork because it requires teamwork. Between trips to the simulator, participants debrief, and apply lessons learned to the real world. In MFI-guided sessions they use the experience to clarify and recommit to their own workplace mission, relationships and plans.

Each of your staff members will serve on one of eight teams critical to the success of the mission. Everyone will have the opportunity to work in both Mission Control and the spacecraft.

The teams are:

Navigation:   Uses astronomy and navigation skills to maneuver the spacecraft out of Earth's orbit and to its target.

Medical:   Performs tests relating to the crew's health and their reaction to the Stress of the mission.

Probe:   Assembles and deploys a scientific probe to gather data for the mission.

Data:   Transmits important information via computer between Mission Control and the spacecraft.

Remote:   Works is a glovebox and uses remote robots to perform mission-related tasks.

Isolation:   Uses robots to perform mission-related experiments.

Life Support:   Monitors and maintains the spacecraft's oxygen, water and environmental conditions.

Communication:   Maintains voice link between the spacecraft and Mission Control.
